About Henry Lunt

Henry Lunt was born on 20 July 1824 in Wrenbury, Cheshire, England. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 6 October 1849 and emigrated to America the following year, arriving in Utah on 30 August 1850 with the Milo Andrus Company.

He settled in Cedar City, Utah, where he became a prominent pioneer — operating a hotel and stage stop, serving in civic and church roles, and helping to establish the community. He married four wives and raised a large and devoted family.

Facing legal pressure over polygamy in the late 1880s, Henry relocated his family across the American Southwest to Colonia Pacheco in Chihuahua, Mexico. Nearly blind in his final years, he was cared for tenderly by his wife Sarah. He died on 22 January 1902 in Colonia Pacheco, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of faith, perseverance, and pioneer service.
